Thanks, Government Openers

By Corey Pein
For this week's SFR cover story, “Pay to Play A-Z," I went through pretty much every major donor to Bill Richardson's presidential and gubernatorial campaigns, then tried to find out which ones had business with the state of New Mexico. This was a lot more work than I imagined. I'm all databased out.

Props to the Center for Responsive Politics and the National Institute on Money in State Politics, who make this kind of work a lot easier.

With ethics reform now under debate in the state legislature, and a big-dollar stimulus package likely to hit the states soon, we'll be keeping an eye on campaign contributions and government contracts. Watch this site for more — and send us your tips, if you got 'em.
