Bored This Weekend? Got Tires? Drop 'Em Off At Buckman For Free

Santa Fe's recycling station offers free disposal

Santa Fe's Solid Waste Management Agency is offering to take tires off your hands—for free!—this weekend.

As a part of the SWaMa's "Amnesty Days," anyone can drop off up to eight tires per day for free at the Buckman Road Recycling and Transfer Station, at 2600 Buckman Road, anytime from 8 am to 4:45 pm on Sept. 6 and 7.

SWaMa is the joint city-county entity that manages BuRRT and the Caja Del Rio landfill.

SWaMa says that during the last Amnesty Day it held in April, it collected 437 tires.

If you don't like mosquitoes—and West Nile Virus—even more reason to participate: SWaMa notes that wet tires are breeding grounds for the bugs.

If you can't motivate yourself to make it to BuRRT for this weekend's tire Amnesty Day, don't fret. The agency is holding a tire Amnesty Day the first weekend every month until April.

And please, don't burn tires. Ever.

At the end of September, SWaMa will also be hosting a trash Amnesty Day when anyone can drop off trash, mattresses, box springs and other bulky items for free. Check out the calendar below for more information.
