o one is safe once Fiesta Melodrama season rolls up—politicians, Zozobra and this here weekly. With a take no prisoners approach and a longstanding knack for tongue-in-cheek ruthlessness, this year’s iteration continues the tradition through Sept. 7 with Thursday-Sunday performances. Out of the cast, one member stands out with her own unique blend of charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent. Her name? Thoothanna Dinero.
Gov. Dinero, your presence at the current Melodrama is breathtaking. What’s your secret to commanding the stage?
Thank you. It’s hard to take command of an entire state (not that I really try). I’m more well equipped to take command of smaller things like the stage. It’s probably why I’m so good at it.
There are boos and hisses thrown your way. Does that bother you?
I don’t concern myself with people’s reactions that aren’t funding my campaign.
Of note is that you wear Army boots during the play. Is this a hint of things to come?
I believe a gal has to look good but also be prepared in case Sarah Palin calls me for a hunting trip.
