Marijuana Rule Change Blasted

Former Gov. Gary Johnson says regulations would send New Mexico patients over the Colorado border

May 16, 2014, 1:25 pm
Former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson railed against newly proposed medical cannabis rules at a morning news conference that included Democratic candidate for governor Alan Webber, patients and several licensed producers.

Johnson says if the rules are adopted he believes patients will drive to Colorado, where marijuana has been legalized for recreational use. He also predicted law enforcement will start setting up roadblocks to check cars of people returning to the Land of Enchantment.

Listen to Johnson’s comments in Soundcloud.

Democrat Alan Webber is also speaking out against the new rules. He says patients need safe access to their medication.

Here is the complete news conference audio.

The New Mexico Department of Health has scheduled a meeting for public comments on June 16 in Santa Fe. Stay with the Santa Fe Reporter for complete coverage.
