Santa Fe voters will elect five city officials on March 4. While campaign flyers are arriving in mailboxes and yard signs are starting to pop up, several local organizations want area residents to get a first-hand look at candidates. At least eight election forums are planned this month:
—Monday, Jan. 6: Mayoral candidates hosted by the Neighborhood Network, Christus St. Vincent's Southwest Conference Room, 465 St. Michael's Dr. from 7:30-9:30pm.
—Tuesday, Jan. 7: City Council candidates in District 1 hosted by the Democratic Party of Santa Fe County, Center for Progress and Justice at 1420 Cerrillos Road from 6-7:30pm.
—Thursday, Jan. 9: City Council candidates for District 3 hosted by the Democratic Party of Santa Fe (same as above).
—Monday, Jan. 13: ProgressNow NM holds a mayoral debate in the Fogelson Library complex at 1600 St. Michael's Drive from 6:30-8 pm. SFR editor Julie Ann Grimm and former editor Julia Goldberg will ask the questions; —Contenders for City Council in Districts 1 and 3 hosted by Neighborhood Network, Christus St. Vincent's Southwest Conference Room from 7:30- 9:30 pm.
—Tuesday, Jan. 14: City Council candidates in Districts 2 and 4 will square off in a Democratic Party of Santa Fe County forum at the Center for Progress and Justice beginning at 6 pm.
—Wednesday, Jan. 15: Mayoral contenders will participate in a Democratic Party of Santa Fe County forum at the Center for Progress and Justice beginning at 6 pm.
—Monday, Jan. 20: City council candidates in Districts 1 and 3 hosted by the Neighborhood Network, Christus St. Vincent's Southwest Conference Room from 7:30-9:30 pm. (Joey Peters)
