Hospital clues sought

December 18, 2013, 12:00 am
City Councilors Patti Bushee and Peter Ives say Santa Fe needs to know more about what’s going on at the city’s biggest hospital. Last week, the councilors introduced a resolution that would establish a study group to gather information and make recommendations related to Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center. The study group would include city councilors, county commissioners, hospital board members, hospital union representatives, consumers and other members. It would hold at least three public hearings to gather input about the hospital’s “general state” and would also gather information from “financial and medical industry experts” about the hospital’s financial condition, the general business environment of hospitals and local needs. The study group would arrive at recommendations for improving public communication and transparency, local government support of the hospital and encourage “community engagement and support.” (Justin Horwath)
