Bear Essentials

September 10, 2013, 12:00 am
Did you know that a couple members of Seattle’s Minus the Bear are from Santa Fe? And that the band features alumni of math-metal/hardcore acts Killsadie and Botch?

Yeah, this is a veritable who’s who of seminal Pacific Northwest music champions who take indie rock and infuse it with a healthy dose of finger-tapping complexity and carefully layered electronics.

With a style that stays on the fringe of pop while delving deep into mind-boggling territory, the dudes will be in town promoting their newest release, Acoustics II.

But wait, it gets better! Sacramento’s Tera Melos opens the show with their brand of jazz-meets-rock-meets-insane-time-signatures-meets-indie sound. When a show this radical kicks off the bitchin’ AHA Fest, you know it’s going to be a good weekend. Fairly warned be ye, says I.
