Think Different

July 2, 2013, 12:00 am
“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The round pegs in the square holes,” read a late ‘90s advertising campaign for Apple.

This Friday, Monroe Gallery picks up where Steve left off and unveils Those Who Dared, an homage to intrepid and defiantly courageous individuals, who in moments of political turmoil (a newly freed Nelson Mandela); extreme violence (Tiananmen Square’s “Tank Man”) and defiance (“Cairo, Egypt—February 8, 2011” by Yuri Kozyrev, pictured), elevated the human spirit.

Consisting of 50 photographs depicting everyone from everyday people to heads of state, Monroe continues its run of compelling and poignant exhibits and celebrates movements like women’s liberation, integration and equal rights. Cue Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA.”
Those Who Dared:
5-7 pm Friday, July 5. Free.
Monroe Gallery, 112 Don Gaspar Ave.,
