Spare 150k?

In Brief

If the Santa Fe Resource and Opportunity Center had one of those fundraising thermometers meant to motivate donors, the mercury wouldn't quite reach the top.

Representatives of the 10 organizations collaborating on the venture learned at a June 15 meeting that an additional $150,000 is still needed to complete construction. The SFROC is to be the newest incarnation of the Pete's Pets building—a 100-bed homeless shelter that will also make various services available to the homeless in one place.

The additional $150,000, which will be used to install a kitchen and other necessities, comes on top of $1 million allocated to the project by the City of Santa Fe last fall. The organizations partnering on the project are hoping that private donors will come forward to bridge the funding gap.

The project is expected to be complete by October.
