Blue State Project

In Brief

The punditry is all over former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson's 2012 presidential bid, but New Mexico Dems also are gearing up for a heated campaign season.

At its April 30 State Central Committee meeting, the Democratic Party of New Mexico will elect a state party chairman. Chairman Javier Gonzales has two challengers: Letitia Montoya, a former secretary of state candidate, and Albuquerque lawyer Sam Bregman. The message, Bregman says, is, once again, change.

"The Republicans dominated the message [in 2010]," Bregman tells SFR. "I can't accept those results. I want to turn things around in 2012."
