Blue State Project

In Brief

By Alexa Schirtzinger
BRIEFSWEB

The punditry is all over former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson’s 2012 presidential bid, but New Mexico Dems also are gearing up for a heated campaign season.

At its April 30 State Central Committee meeting, the Democratic Party of New Mexico will elect a state party chairman. Chairman Javier Gonzales has two challengers: Letitia Montoya, a former secretary of state candidate, and Albuquerque lawyer Sam Bregman. The message, Bregman says, is, once again, change.

“The Republicans dominated the message [in 2010],” Bregman tells SFR. “I can’t accept those results. I want to turn things around in 2012.”
