For On Your Feet, it’s a year of celebration and a year of change. This July will be the one-year birthday for the shoe store’s kid sister and neighbor, On Your Little Feet. This year will mark 20 years of On Your Feet, which moved years ago from a small footprint on Old Santa Fe Trail to its great big showroom in Sanbusco. Due to the state of the economy, OYF owner Nina Houle says she’s done some reorganizing, including adjusting the inventory and the number of people employed. “We’re really trying to concentrate on customer service,” Houle says, and that means helping people make “good choices,” considering money is tighter. “Customers are as cautious as we are. We don’t push sales; we don’t pressure people to buy things.” But make no mistake, Houle is still pretty excited about the new styles and brands on deck for fall—“beautiful, beautiful Uggs, Camper from Spain, Hispanitas also from Spain”—so it might be hard to keep from buying after all.
