Best Local Liquor Store

(Don’t Drink and Drive, Please.)

1005 St. Francis Drive, Suite 105 (in Crossroads Center)

Tucked into the Crossroads Center is what Susan’s Fine Wine & Spirits Assistant Manager Michael Waddington says is a 3½-year-old liquor store “bursting at the seams with wine.”

But not just any wine. Waddington credits the store’s owner, longtime Santa Fean Susan Eagan, with vetting the “great selection of imported and domestic” wines. “She’s been in the business about 20 years. The stuff that’s in here, she knows it all. She doesn’t bring in wines that aren’t worth drinking,” he says. But fine wine is nothing without a little information. And that, Waddington says, Susan’s tiny staff is full of. “Pretty much all the wine that goes out of the door was hand-sold,” Waddington says, attributing the staff’s unparalleled wine knowledge to their familiarity with the merchandise.

Wine novice? No worries. Waddington assures that despite the staff’s wide-world-of-wine know-how, there are “no pretensions.”
