Prepare to be shocked and astonished by Toy Auto Man owner and master mechanic Stephen Inoue’s philosophy of business. “We work hard at being fair,” Inoue says. “We make sure we only recommend services and parts that will help the customer. We work to stay within the budgets of our customers, recommending priority services and estimating when additional work might be due. We use the best equipment and most up-to-date technology and work quickly so that we can schedule most customers within a day or two of their call.” Cynical readers may wonder what Inoue’s 27-year-old business is doing in the Land of Mañana, but the philosophy obviously works. Toy Auto Man recently expanded to a brand new facility with six bays and six mechanics on staff. Excellent customer care is supplemented by expertise. “The new hybrids, for example, have as many as 14 onboard computers. We upgrade our software and diagnostic equipment every six to 12 months,” Inoue says. Another tip: “New car owners should know they can get scheduled maintenance done anywhere, not only at the dealer.”
