Ristra

You know you're in a restaurant to die for when you're greeted by the dulcet tones of French coming from the kitchen. Ristra's cozy rooms make for a romantic meal that infuses the diner with intimacy and charm. Start off with a bang-order an aperitif of Lillet or perhaps a kir royal. A recurring special appetizer not to be missed: the seared duck foie gras with poached pear. If you're in a particularly festive mood, order it with a crisp glass of sauterne-the combination of flavors melts, melds and mellows on the tongue. The grilled spiced duck breast with potato chard gratin, wilted escarole and orange sauce is a standout entrée, with a sweet, tart sauce you'll want extra bread for. A smoked pork tenderloin is served with a braised pork empanada, its shell so crispy and buttery, you'll wish there were a dozen of them. It comes with a comforting truffled polenta and a beet and plum pasilla sauce. Again, this sauce is so delicious you'll be tempted to lick your plate. You can't go wrong at Ristra. The wine list is well-thought out and…reasonable!
