At the Snow Creek Ski Area, 90 percent of the 12 trails are green or blue, probably because the resort's summit, at 1,100 feet, is only 250 feet higher than its base. Lucky for us, Snow Creek is in Missouri, while Ski Santa Fe is a mere half hour's drive from the Plaza. (Go ahead and take a moment say to yourself: I am so lucky to live in Santa Fe.) With seven gorgeous resorts within an hour's drive of the city, it's awfully hard for skiers and snowboarders to get bored with the view, the variety or the challenge. You can compare information on lift ticket prices and level of difficulty using this handy chart. Go to the resorts' Web sites for more detailed information on equipment rental, ski lessons and season passes. Of course, if you're interested in skiing down the high side of a cow pasture then may we recommend some slopes back East?
