The origins of the nefarious date's pejorative
connotations are unclear, but a lot of folk seem to agree that there's
just something weird about Friday the 13th. No big—you can just go
about your business, doing cool things, seeing great music and being a
cultural citizen of our fair city. Or something.
Live metal performances by Savage Wisdom, Illumina AD, Fields of
Elysium and Carrion Kind ... It's the most fun you can have without
totally taking out a group of teens just trying to enjoy a damn
camping trip.
TThe new series aimed at young adult readers presents two authors who
read from their respective works. Murphy reads from Miguel Lost and
Found at the Museum, and Willerton reads from Ghosts of San Juan.
The trio kicks off the new year with a three part performance; Alvin
is a Grammy-winning singer and songwriter. McMurtry is a writer and
guitarist and Gilmore is part of the legendary group Flatlanders.
It's a Dance Monster dance party! Tensnake comes from Germany to help
the freak fest get its groove on with DJ Dirt Girl and DJ Eldon. Wear
your scariest costume. Bust your most thrilling moves.
Serenata Santa Fe presents a performance of a unique sampling of
compositions including Carl Nielsen's "Serenata in Vano" and Richard
Strauss's "Till Eulenspiegel."
This community event includes readings by former Santa Fe Poet Laureates
Arthur Sze, Valarie Martinez and Jon Davis, as well as Santa Fe Living
Treasure James McGrath as participants aim to be a unifying force for
the protection of democracy.
