The debate over raising the minimum wage in New Mexico is heading for the state Legislature's lawmaking session that begins on Jan. 17. Will we join 19 other states with recent law changes that help the bottom line for low-tier workers? Several cities and counties already have a higher wage floor than the state. The governor says she's open to signing a wage hike if it makes us "competitive with neighboring states and doesn't hurt small businesses."
