Blog, May 8: “Not Quite a Riot”

Review Was Well-Done

[From Alex De Vore's review of Pussy Riot at the Greer Garson Theatre:] "The buzz around their appearance only added to the naïve and idealistic idea that they would somehow have all the answers for issues of oppression and activism."

Well done, Mr. De Vore.

Wrong Setting?

Sounds like a less formal setting would have been better. I've never liked the "moderator" format anyway.

The Outrageous Riot

In Russia, no one pays attention unless you do something outrageous.

Pussy Riot chose Moscow's Cathedral of Christ the Savior to protest the strong (and some say corrupting) ties between Putin and the Patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church (Kirill).

Kirill is allegedly an unapologetic supporter of Putin, even when Putin denies citizens rights that are guaranteed under the Russian Constitution and promotes the crony capitalism that has benefited Putin and his oligarch friends at the expense of the average Russian citizen.

Blue Corn, May 6: “Santa Fe Fable”

Here Come the Wolf

This little piggy went to market (the new cheese shop, actually).

This little piggy stayed home (the tastefully decorated adobe house, natch).

This little piggy ate some delicious Southwestern food with Hatch chiles.

This little piggy had none (saving the calories for dinner at the Shed).

And this little piggy cried, "Oh, shoot, here comes the wolf!"
