A major national media company that owns several New Mexico newspapers wants to sell its offices all over the state.
Facilities used by The Farmington Daily Times, Las Cruces Sun News, Ruidoso News, Deming Headlight and Alamogordo Daily News are among 51 print sites and office buildings in the country put on the market this week by Digital First Media, Poynter reports.
The sales are aimed at streamlining "through a comprehensive program encompassing property sales, new leasing, relocations and consolidation, thereby freeing the company from the constraints of being overburdened with underutilized properties," Digital First Media President and Chief Operating Officer Steve Rossi says in a news release.
The Sun-News building in the southern New Mexico city of Las Cruces is relatively new, rebuilt after a 2011 fire destroyed the paper's offices.
Meanwhile, the Santa Fe New Mexican's downtown office building on Marcy Street remains listed on the Santa Fe Properties webpage for $6.2 million. That paper is independently owned and not affiliated with Digital First.
