A land feasibility study is on the agenda for tonight's meeting of Santa Fe Public Schools Board of Education meeting.---
The study is being done to determine whether the school could be rebuilt on a separate lot from the old school's present location, instead of built in phases around the current campus as part of a gradual teardown.
The study is listed as an action item but it's not clear if any decisions will be made tonight. It also appears on the executive session agenda, as matters involving acquisition of property often are.
Although SFPS previously made the decision to rebuild Agua Fria at the same location, that was put on hold after cost estimates provided by the project's architect, Claudio Vigil, turned out to be much lower than what contractors bid to do the building for. That snafu gave Agua Fria residents who have resisted the Agua Fria demolition the opportunity to argue in favor of building on a new spot, a possibility the BoE has considered in recent weeks.
