The New Mexico Supreme Court has decided to hear the lawsuit filed two days ago against Gov. Susana Martinez, SFR has learned. Also, the race for Santa Fe Public Schools' Board of Education has narrowed in District 1.
Juana Colón of the New Mexico Environmental Law Center, which filed the petition (pdf) on behalf of its client, New Energy Economy, alleging that Gov. Martinez' executive order to halt publication of a greenhouse gas emissions cap rule approved in December was illegal, tells SFR that NMELC has just learned that the Supreme Court will take the case.
According to a fax sent to NMELC today, the Court will hold a hearing on Wednesday, Jan. 26 at 9 am.
In other news, the District 1 school board race has narrowed to three candidates from a previous four. State Budget Analyst Alexis Lotero has pulled out of the race, she tells SFR, in order not to detract from Steven Carrillo's campaign.
