Proceeds from the event benefit Youth Shelters' many important programs, including the

Education Initiative

, a plan to hopefully provide GED training in house. According to Development Director Melissa Frank-Williams, "We have found out, through community collaboration such as with

that there are long waits for GED training and assistance. About 55 percent of kids we see need this service." With this program, Youth Shelters can be more useful to the kids its already serving.
