In a town that has never been known for pizza, the new Rooftop Pizzeria stands out with a sleek, modern design and over-the-top, gourmet ingredients. Peeking out from the top of the Santa Fe Arcade, overlooking Water Street, the terrace here feels like a smaller, less colorful version of the Coyote Rooftop Cantina. But in place of the quesadillas and prickly
pear margaritas, you'll find an exciting selection of thin-crusted pizzas and a list of 25 wines by the glass. The specialty here is pizza made with your choice of blue corn or "traditional" crust. If you're just in the mood for a simple pie, order the #1 with nothing but fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, roasted garlic and basil. If you want to get fancy, check out the #4 with smoked duck, roasted garlic, spinach, basil, peppercorns and four cheeses. The #10 comes loaded with lobster, shrimp, mushrooms, bacon and leeks, held together with Alfredo sauce and four cheeses. Go with friends and order several pies and different wines for your own wine-and-pizza pairing night. The specialty pizzas aren't super cheap (a 12-inch lobster pie costs $18), but at lunch you can get a slice, salad and drink for less than $10.
