The Mambo Room
With the inevitable snow that will terrorize our lives for the next several months, it’s going to be hard enough to stay warm. Not to worry. Tony James, head of international promoters ARTCATZ, has the perfect solution for the wintry blues. Mambo Room heats things up at The Lodge, and your flimsy excuses not to go will have to stop. James and crew spend countless hours building a Copacabana-esque dance floor to bring one of the hottest and sexiest ongoing local shows to life. “When people walk in and see the dance floor for the first time, it hits them that they’ve never seen anything like this,” James tells SFR. Santa Fe’s—by way of New York—DJ Avi is on hand to spin salsa, merengue, bachata, cumbia, cha-cha and more, all likely to induce ass-shaking of the highest caliber. Can’t dance? Don’t fret. Local dance instructor Tony Perez teaches basic steps to all newcomers. New to the Mambo Room is an ongoing dance contest with the chance to win big cash prizes.
