About Clafoutis
It’s not fair. The French have the richest, yummiest, most fattening food on the planet—stuffed with butter, chocolate and cream—yet they stay so skinny! They must be on to something. So forget Atkins, or whatever the fad diet of the week is, and devour some delectable treats from Clafoutis’ pastry case. The chocolate and raspberry ganache melts onto the tongue almost before it even gets there. And the croissants—oh, the croissants. If you only want to cheat a little bit, a beignet costs less than a dollar and is as satisfying as an entire cake.
Clafoutis isn’t a one-trick pony though; in addition to sugary treats, there is a breakfast and lunch menu worth risking injury for. The French onion soup is bold and makes for a meal on its own while the sandwich menu lingers for two full pages. Breakfast, though, is where Clafoutis wins hearts and minds. The crépes and waffles are the perfect start to the day, stuffed and covered with fruit, Nutella (a lot of Nutella, in fact, you may have a little extra to share with your table) or just a touch of powdered sugar. If that’s too much of a guilty pleasure, dig your fork into the provençale omelet—a full plate of eggs, ham and spices (we detected oregano and a combination of something that was almost like cinnamon, but definitely not).
